We’re here to serve you.
We understand that concerns about discrimination and being misunderstood contribute to your overall experience with a health care provider. We want to take those stressors away and focus on your health and well-being. Our promise to you is to continue to educate our staff and improve systems to welcome and serve all patients, inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
Steps we are taking to be more inclusive
Our EHR system allows for patients to indicate their sex assigned at birth alongside their current gender during the intake process. Our staff will use your name and/or pronoun during your visit.
We offer single stall, gender-neutral lockable restrooms located on the first and second floors of University Health Services.
For our staff, we incorporate training and education about our LGBTQIA+ population’s experiences and health needs. We are partners with the Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement and LGBTQIA+ Programming and Initiatives and participate in events on campus to bring awareness to our services and support.
What to expect from us
We invite you to share openly and honestly with us. During office visits, we ask all patients questions relevant to their reason for the visit. This can cover topics such as personal medical history, use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, sexual behavior, and family medical history. We want you to feel comfortable. Please know that we are gathering this information to better meet your health needs.
Services we offer
If we are unable to offer a particular service, we will work with you to refer you to the appropriate facility.
