Do I need to be seen?
Because of the complexity of health problems, it is impossible for a nurse to make this decision over the phone. You will be advised to come to SHS to be seen by a healthcare provider.
Appointments at the Student Health Center are encouraged but not necessary to be seen for an illness or injury. Students are seen in the order that they sign in. Annual gynecological examinations and athletics, ROTC, and diving physicals do require an appointment. Appointments may be made by calling 662-915-7274.
When you sign in, you many choose to see the next available healthcare provider or request a particular provider. Students who have Blue Cross Insurance should request a Blue Cross provider. However, if they do not choose to wait or a Blue Cross Provider is not on duty, they will be asked to sign a form indicating that they are aware that the provider they will see at Student Health, for that visit, is not a Blue Cross Provider. Student Health Services opens at 8 a.m. Monday through Thursday and at 9 a.m. on Friday; closing time is 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is suggested to sign/come in before 4 p.m. to be seen that day. Students who come to the clinic early in the morning usually have a shorter wait time.
